ABOUT US
Fly As I, LLC. unofficially began business in the spring of 2004. The majority of our business came locally from selling tee shirts, du-rags and jerseys to friends and family in and around Poughkeepsie, New York. Towards the end of 2004 and into 2005, the company began minor operations on university campuses. In April of 2006 we began selling discounted polo shirts and started to branch out to other campuses in the New York and Atlanta area. Our popularity and support base began to grow. We were no longer limited to local sales.
Being founded by Jamaican natives, Fly As I has always had support from the Caribbean community. As we began to grow, our sales team became a diverse mix which caused us to gain multinational support. Keeping our early success and customer base in mind we have always wanted to promote clothing that celebrates culture. After realizing that there were too many foreign designers using our flags and style with out acknowledging their roots, we shifted our focus to “cultural brands”. The islands are culturally rich and have their own unique styles and fashions. Fly As I allows the world to access merchandise that celebrates Caribbean culture, reggae and its African roots. The apparel we offer truly has "culture in every thread".
In June 2006, flyasiclothing.com was started. Although we had success selling various items online in the past, we were proud to have full control of our own site. Despite its humble beginning, we received positive reviews and a lot of support. That summer, we began to assemble our street team and increased our marketing efforts.
In February of 2007, Fly As I, LLC. was formed. Shortly after, we were proud to announce the launch of our new and improved web site. We continue to add brands to our product catalog and with the support of our customers and network of designer we will continue to grow.
We always welcome suggestions, feedback and comments. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about our company. If you would like to know more do not hesitate to ask.
